Body Mass Index is weight divided by height squared. It gives a simple category (underweight, normal, overweight, obese) but does not distinguish muscle from fat.
Basal Metabolic Rate is the calories your body burns at rest. It's the baseline for estimating daily needs; multiply by an activity factor for TDEE.
